An interesting thing about spending five whole days talking to other writers, and listening to publishing people talk, is it makes you (well makes me!) think about how why it is writers want to be published.
Naturally enough writers want to write, but what drives any of us to go through a million drafts, get (often) a stack of rejections, and then do it over and over again?
Maybe you want to be a millionaire or famous for doing something you love. Maybe you have the ‘if a tree falls in the forest’ mentality to your work, that it only exists if there are readers to read it. Maybe you just feel you need to justify all those writing hours.
For me I like having an excuse to write which acts like a deadline. What about you?
