Most bloggers I know are slowing down through December as we wade through the season of catching up and food consumption, so I thought I’d take a moment to reflect on what blogging about writing has meant to me over this year.
When I set out to blog on writing, I hoped that I would have something to offer other writers, and that it wouldn’t end up taking too much time from my writing. So, how has it gone?
I can’t say for sure that it’s been useful to others, but I certainly have found it interesting as:
- An excuse to hunt down the origins of words.
- A way to clarify aspects of writing that I know but haven’t clearly articulated.
- A fun way to gush about authors who I admire.
- An opportunity to do the odd review.
- A way to track words.
It hasn’t taken time from my writing – mind you that takes a bit of discipline – and in some ways it’s inspired me to work through the bad bits of the writing year.
So I’m enjoying blogging and I hope to stick to my regular schedule next year. Between now and then, I will probably have a short break. So see you in the new year!
