It’s a cliché to talk about writers with bad backs, but they’re remarkably easily damaged if you don’t pay attention to them…
- Use a lumber support if you need it when sitting. It can help position you correctly and ease the strain on your lower back.
- Keep up your ‘core strength’ as the fitness people call it. Fastest way to a bad back is a weak stomach.
That last point doesn’t mean you have to become a gym-junky or do a hundred sit ups a day. There are lots of simple, gentle exercises that can work those muscles.
