It’s been a bad year for words in 2011. Not a lot of anything went on and particularly not in this last part of the year, so I’ve decided to set myself a challenge for 2012 to get me back swimming around in the inkpot.
The challenge: Write 100 words a day for the whole 365 days of 2012.
The 100 words cannot be snippets or sketches or explorations, but must be on one of my novels or new short stories.
Neither non-fiction writing or any editing counts in the 100 words.
To account for any missed days (eg due to illness) then the total word-count for that week must add up to 700 words.
I believe that 100 words is pretty achievable, and I like the idea that those 100 words will add up over 2012 to a respectable total of 36,500 words.
Spread that out over my two main novel projects and I’ll finish a draft of each with a short story or so to spare! Now that’s a thought.
