For something that’s been part of pop culture for 20 years and ever-growing in popularity, you’d be forgiven for thinking tattooing would be safe and regulated and about as low risk as sticking a needle in your skin can be.
Well it’s surprisingly not.
Because the inks aren’t cosmetics and they aren’t medical supplies they fall in the cracks between regulations and controls.
What that means is that the inks often contain chemicals that shouldn’t be in our bodies.
Now I don’t know how likely they are to do direct harm to you if they’re sitting in a tattoo, but it’s not encouraging to think there are carcinogens in there. And when people have them laser removed, they get broken up and flushed out through the body touching a lot of organs.
You gotta ask yourself how these things happen.
