This one’s simple, but works wonderfully well in combination with my previous tip, or in your normal draft.
I learnt this one from my day-job where just occasionally I have to do voice work, reading from a script. One of the best ways to catch tense changes, missing words and accidental plurals is to read aloud.
It does work best on text you haven’t seen for a while, though if you split it out as in my last tip that issue goes away.
I will say, you do need to really read aloud, not just mumble it quietly. I don’t know why. Maybe that’s just my brain!
