The book club met to discuss the second book we’d picked out of the hat, and it was a great nibbles and talk afternoon.
In some ways we all liked The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society too much so there wasn’t a lot of difference in opinion. I liked it that way though, because we enthused about the book together, which was lovely. Particularly the characters. The characters are delightful.
As a writer, sitting with a bunch of readers who aren’t analysing the prose, the structure or characterisation is refreshing in itself, but the ways in which they are still reacting to those things is of course also interesting.
And, as I was in charge of provision of savouries, the meeting also led to a new and wonderful quiche/souffle recipe, destined to become a standard in my snack repertoire!
