The sexual politics of this are possibly looking a bit dated now, but I still think it’s a great film. An exemplar of 80’s rom-com, it puts a wonderful cast together with what’s actually quite a serious story.
A smart, ambitious woman who wants something more out of life, struggles with sleazy colleagues, a confused boyfriend and ultimately she puts everything on the line to take a shot at progressing her career. She does this by pretending to be someone she’s not which of course leads to all kinds of hilarity.
As well as Sigourney Weaver in a wonderful role and Harrison Ford as the love interest, there are of course shoulder-pads and some very big hair.
