So the next book club book as been duly borrowed and read. It’s thrown up another interesting question about what non-writing readers will think, namely that this book shifts out of the protag’s POV into other characters’ POVs for random paragraphs.
I’ve never seen it done outside of romance. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of it either, but more importantly from a research perspective: Will it bug the average reader?
Given that I knew two other people who’d read it some time back, I did take the opportunity to ask them if they’d noticed. Neither of them specifically remembered the head-jumping, though they recalled points of confusion. So now I’m even more intrigued! Roll on book club!
