I suspect that most writers who have day-jobs, suffer from occasional “don’t want to go to work”-itis. You’re on a roll with the current WIP and the day job is just getting in the way, right?
Well, I was chatting to a non-writing person the other day and they expressed exactly the same thing. Except the things they wanted to do with their day weren’t writing related, of course.
Lots of people dislike their jobs – that’s not a shocker – but I’d always thought that writers had a particular form of job-displeasure, in that it’s as much the draw of our writing urges, as it is any dissatisfaction with the job, that causes it. I think I’m a bit sad to find we’re not such special little snowflakes!
