My last bookclub meeting offered a great discussion of Still Alice and it’s a book I’m glad I read, in a way. It was just so sad.
It definitely left me hoping we’d pick something happy out of the hat for our April book, but I got more than I expected when it was one of my suggestions plucked from among the slips of paper!
The selected book is not only a comedy, but a romance and Victoriana urban fantasy to-boot! That’s a combination that will probably challenge some of the other clubbers. (I’m the only spec-fic reader.)
My prediction is that some will love it, some won’t get through it and a lot will struggle with the opening chapter or two. But, as one of the absolutely non-spec-fic people said: this is why you join a bookclub – to read things you wouldn’t otherwise read.
