Wales 2019 – Day 7: Snowdon Mountain Railway
I don’t think these pictures need many words… Though please excuse the glass reflections – most were taken through train windows!
This little diesel loco – called George – pushed us up Mount Snowdon. The keen-eyed train lover may notice this is a rack and pinion railway.
We were in car F… as you might guess
There are many hiking trails through these peaks… so I learned from a fellow passenger
The carriage was lovely and here it is at the summit station
I don’t know why, but it amazes me these mountains are so close to the coast! This view was from the train platform at the summit station.
“The summit of Snowdon: Here you are nearer to heaven.” I love that.
I couldn’t help feeling there was something wrong with taking a dog whose legs were so tiny, hiking up an enormous mountain!
Outside the visitors’ centre there wasn’t much space but you just had to get out there, drink in the views and take photos!
Oh, look a quarry! There are a lot of mines and quarries in Wales.
You might say it’s a popular hiking spot!
I guess it’s the scale of the place that gets you… look at the other train going up as we came down!
